If your application is successful, you will join our Rare Foundations: Law events at Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith Freehills (non-law students only), Hogan Lovells (law students only) and Linklaters on the following dates:
Clifford Chance – Wednesday, 28 November 2018
Herbert Smith Freehills – Tuesday, 18 December 2018
Hogan Lovells – Tuesday, 18 December 2018
Linklaters - Monday, 17 December 2018
Successful candidates will also be invited to attend Breakthrough in the evening of 20 January 2019. This is an introductory evening to the Articles programme.
What you will do
Commercial Law Boot Camp
These firm days will provide you with exceptional learning and networking opportunities. You will meet with partners, associates, trainees and members of graduate recruitment and get a real insight into what being a commercial lawyer means.
Contract and Tort are key modules for many law firms when assessing applications.
We found that one in five candidates with 3 As or better at university failed to get a 2.1 overall or missed a 2.1 in either Contract or Tort in their first year. Our study seminars, led by a world-class tutor, ensure our candidates get the best possible grade(s) in these important modules.
Psychometric Test Practice
Psychometric tests are used by some firms at application stage. This is the point when many otherwise excellent candidates fall out of the process. Participants in Rare Foundations: Law can attend vital training sessions with our experts.
We run Application Slams which are workshops where candidates will prepare applications for first year opportunities. Experts will be on hand to give you direct and immediate feedback. The Application Slam sessions will be intensive, but are designed to save you time in the long run by making you focus on producing the best applications you can.
Panel of Experts
Participants will work closely with former Clifford Chance and Slaughter and May lawyer, Melissa Andrewes, and former Allen & Overy lawyer and Graduate Recruitment Manager at Herbert Smith Freehills, Carly Gilberg, as well as our wider team of application and interview experts.
Articles Fast Track
Successful graduates of Rare Foundations: Law can be fast-tracked to interview for Articles. Articles is Rare’s extended development programme which runs from your second term of first year (or second year of a four year degree) into your second year (or third year of a four year degree) where the focus is on providing you with support with applying for vacation schemes. In the last two years, 50 Articles candidates have gained 80 vacation schemes between them.
