The Judges


 

Tom Chigbo

Tom Chigbo became the first No.1 Rare Rising Star in 2009, and appeared in the publication each year since then. This year, he was invited to join our panel of distinguished judges.

In 2010, Tom became Cambridge University’s first black Students’ Union President, representing 20,000 students. During his tenure he was able to secure £35,000 of university funding for the first ever Student Advice Service in Cambridge.

Tom completed an MA in Community Organising at Queen Mary, University of London in 2011, after graduating from Cambridge with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography. He is now a Community Organiser for London Citizens, working with 15 faith, education and civic institutions in the London Borough of Lambeth. Before becoming a professional Organiser in 2011, Tom had a year’s experience with Citizens UK, working with TELCO, North London Citizens and the Money Mentors financial literacy campaign.
