We’re delighted to share the news that Procter & Gamble (P&G) is now welcoming applications from Rare candidates. With over 100 leading brands, many of us will have been introduced at least one Procter & Gamble product at birth. P&G kept us in nappies, made our clothes clean and gave us glossy hair, but how much do you really know about the world’s largest consumer goods company?
First, a little historical detail: P&G initially started in 1830s Cincinnati, Ohio, with a handshake between two immigrants to America - an Englishman (Procter) and an Irishman (Gamble). Now operational in close to 70 countries, P&G has a strong history of employee advocacy and diversity, introducing employee profit sharing in the late 1880s, helping to found a college for African American women in the early 1900s, and taking measures to offer equal opportunities to black staff well before the US’s 1961 Affirmative Action policy was written into law. As we welcome P&G to Rare’s client roster, we’re pleased to note that commitment to supporting and hiring the best people, irrespective of background, is in the company’s DNA.
For Rare candidates, having P&G on our books means the opportunity to apply with us for the P&G UK Sales Summer internship. The internship offers second or final year undergraduates an unparalleled insight into the day to day work of a sales associate at the company. Sales associates get started with one of the world’s best sales training programmes, designed to equip them with the tools to manage a great deal of responsibility from the outset. Every former intern highlights the range and importance of the work they cover in their 10 weeks with P&G, working on real business problems and dealing with some of the biggest brands in the world - Ariel, Fairy, Gilette and Pampers, to name just a few. The most successful interns can expected to be offered a job in the P&G Sales team, leading a multi-million pound business from your very first day; and when you join a company with this kind of global reach, who knows where in the world it could take you.
“At P&G, we know that the best work and innovations come when there is the most diverse group developing them,” says Alex Smith, P&G’s UK and Ireland Homecare Team Leader. She continues: “That means we constantly seek to connect, in a variety of ways, with the best quality candidates. We promote from within and our future leaders typically start their careers on our graduate scheme. For us, a partnership with Rare offers an exciting opportunity to reach a group of amazing graduates, who may not previously have considered a career in P&G.”
