Rare and Hachette Working to Begin Fresh Chapter for Talented Candidates

Rare is excited to announce its partnership with Hachette, one of the UK’s leading publishing houses. Hachette’s bestselling authors include J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, Graham Norton and Jodi Picoult. Rare will be working with Hachette on two exclusive programmes under the name Fresh Chapters, aimed at students and recent graduates from BAME and lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

'I am really excited that we'll be working with Rare Recruitment to help us recruit exceptional candidates from a wide range of backgrounds for our Fresh Chapters traineeship and internship programmes. Our mission is for our business to become much more representative of the society we live in, and this is one of the practical steps we are taking to help make that so.

By offering very structured, varied traineeships and internships, all paid at or above the London Living Wage, we aim to make these positions accessible to everyone, not just the fortunate or connected few, and to provide an influx of dynamic new talent into Hachette.'
David Shelley, CEO Little, Brown and Orion

Applications can be made for a Fresh Chapters 12-month BAME traineeship with Hachette, beginning in September. During this programme, successful applicants will work within two departments for six months. Hachette is delighted to announce that one of these rotations will include a placement within an editorial department, where interns will have a chance to offer their creative input into the work of one of Hachette’s publishing divisions.

Rare will also be supporting applicants to a Fresh Chapters eight-week internship with Hachette.  Fifteen successful applicants will be split across two intakes in April and September 2017, and all interns will be paid the London Living Wage. The eight-week internship is the ideal opportunity to gain a first-hand insight into the publishing industry and the varied roles on offer. Candidates should get in touch as soon as possible, as applications will be opening at the beginning of February.

Candidates seeking more information about these two Fresh Chapters programmes, the application process and support Rare can offer should email Rachael at rachael.gourley@rarerecruitment.co.uk.
