Andrew Lilley, formerly Managing Partner of Travers Smith, is to join Rare as its first full-time Commercial Director.
Lilley will be joining Rare to work on its growth strategy, drawing on a decade’s experience of holding senior positions at a successful law firm.
Lilley was an employment lawyer for 30 years, beginning his career at Freshfields. He then moved to Travers Smith where he headed the Employment Law department. He was appointed Managing Partner of the firm in 2010.
During Lilley’s time as Managing Partner, he introduced a sector-based approach spanning financial services, leisure, healthcare, retail and infrastructure. He will draw on this experience as Rare moves into new sectors, building on the successful launch of its Contextual Recruitment System, already adopted by more than 40 firms in its first year of operation.
In the past year, Lilley has advised Rare as a consultant, mentoring candidates on two of Rare’s law programmes.
"My association with Rare began as a client and continued last year when I joined its team of candidate mentors as a consultant. I admire the organisation and share everything it stands for. It is a pleasure now to have an opportunity to take up an executive role there." said Andrew Lilley.
Raphael Mokades, Managing Director of Rare, said: “We’re thrilled to have Andrew joining Rare as its first Commercial Director. He has had a vast amount of commercial experience during his career, and we look forward to learning from him.”
