On 19th September, this year’s Target Oxbridge cohort came together to celebrate their achievements.
Over a year ago, the students were beginning to write their Oxbridge applications. Now, 12 of the 30 students will be going to Oxford and Cambridge in just a few weeks, with one student deferring until next year. The relationships that developed over this time have been characterised by supporting one another, so it seemed wholly appropriate to enjoy their achievements together, in a celebratory send off.
The evening included lots of food, drink, and advice about what to expect from Oxbridge. Having worked so hard to get their places, the students are keen to make the most of the experience.
“To see how they have developed is humbling; they have worked so hard, and we are so proud of their achievements. We can’t wait to hear about their first few weeks at university, and support them when they start to think about applying to jobs!” Naomi Kellman, Rare’s Schools, Universities and Data Manager.
This year, Target Oxbridge had a success rate of 53% - compared to the usual rate for all applicants of around 24% - making it the most successful year we’ve had so far.
The students admitted to Oxbridge this year will be studying a range of subjects: Architecture, Classics, Engineering, Law, and Philosophy and Theology, to name a few. We have also, for the first time, helped Medics to get a place at Oxbridge.
