About Rare Rising Stars

At Rare, we are very fortunate to meet extraordinary students on an almost day-to-day basis. Knowing that there are always more high achievers to be discovered, a nationwide search for the brightest black students has led us to some tremendous talents.

Now in its fourth year, Rare Rising Stars showcases the incredible achievements of the best black students in the UK.

The awards first No. 1 Rare Rising Star Tom Chigbo, now London Borough Organiser at Citizens UK, joined returning judges Rt. Hon. David Lammy MP, Trevor Phillips OBE, Chair of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights, and Jean Tomlin, HR Director for London 2012, to select yet another cohort of exceptional black students for 2012s publication.

Rare Rising Stars continues to champion role models from all walks of life and the ten Stars showcased here are a testament to the passion, resilience and commitment of black students all over the UK today.

This years Stars were revealed on Thursday 7th June 2012 at an exclusive awards ceremony at the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster.
