Alex Browning
Alex Browning is spoilt for choice when it comes to his greatest achievement. There’s directing an episode of the eight part drama series Life As I Know It, which aired on Channel M earlier this year. There’s becoming a University Officer Cadet and being sponsored by the Royal Artillery to take the British Army Basic Parachuting Course and performing solo jumps from 3,500 ft. There’s launching the University of Manchester Film Production Society and securing its position within the UK National Student Film Association. And there’s more. But the media-mad Politics, Philosophy and Economics student ultimately decides that being commissioned by ITV Fixers to direct and produce a music video tackling issues of social cohesion in Newcastle is his greatest triumph to date.

“The video will showcase artists hailing from Azerbaijhan to Jamaica, and seeks to dispel the negative stereotypes attached to youths in and around the area. I can’t wait”.

Alex is also the Creative Director of Example TV, an online TV channel which is part of the student run webzine Example Magazine. The role has seen him oversee the development of documentary shorts and chat shows including Example TV Meets..., which showcases a range of artists, DJs and performers.

He has also contributed articles in Example Magazine, and has written extensively for Student Direct: Mancunion, Live! Magazine, and Real Magazine.

The founder of Pace Grey Media Arts, which he describes as “a collaborative venture in screen, stage and design” has also recently been appointed to Techno Series, a National Youth Theatre and Ideas Tap think tank which has commissioned him to produce “a digital theatre spectacle” to coincide with the 2012 Olympics.

Alex, who is a student ambassador for VICE Magazine and has been a Millennium Volunteers Ambassador for Bedfordshire, hopes to be a film director one day. Watch this space.
