In 2005 Raphael Mokades quit his excellent job at Pearson to start Rare. He had no staff, no clients and no candidates. He was working in the corner of someone else’s office, grafting hard and building something that would make a real difference.
Since then, Rare has grown year on year. We work with world class clients and candidates of exceptional ability. We’ve gone from one member of staff to six. And now we’re hiring again.

We want to hire one or two people who, between them, can do the following:
Milkround and marketing
This is the life-blood of Rare. Our business only works if we attract the very best people to join. That’s your responsibility. You will:
- Maintain relationships with student societies
- Carry out university visits and ensure new applications come in from our key target universities
- Headhunt candidates for specific briefs
- Maintain website
- Be responsible for newsletters
- Manage client events - Open Days, dinners, lunches, briefings, training sessions
- Manage Rare Network events
- Manage any other events as appropriate
Banking recruitment
You’ll be dealing with people who are utterly exceptional, and you’ll do everything you can to help them get placed in this turbulent period. You will:
- Manage relationships with banking candidates – to include initial interviews, regular catch-up calls, help, advice, and training when candidates go for interview, giving feedback to unsuccessful candidates, and doing our best to ensure candidates take offers from our clients if they get them
- Manage banking clients - talk to clients about candidates, find out their needs, and help suggest solutions
Business development and research
If you have great ideas on how to expand our business and you’re equally good at turning ideas into reality then this is for you. You will:
- Win new business for Rare in both the public and private sectors
- Commission research pieces
- Investigate further expansion of our services
Operations and Administration
You are the person who organises everything. You’re the first person people meet when they walk through the door or talk to when they call up. You’re very well-organised, you’re unflappable and you’re a joy to be around. You will:
- Book initial interviews, mock interviews, and meetings
- Chase candidates for applications
- Confirm attendance at events
- Follow up with candidates following initial interviews
- Manage filing and book-keeping
- Manage office – stationary, plants, water, publications, petty cash
- Administer tests for candidates
- Carry out other admin duties as required
- Do all this with a fantastic, positive attitude, and a smile!
