WPP is one of the world’s most comprehensive marketing communications groups. For the first time ever, they’re offering a summer internship programme to attract ethnic minority candidates to the marketing communications industry.
The Micro-Fellowship is a scaled down version of WPP’s highly competitive Fellowship programme. The graduate Fellowship programme received a record 1700 applicants this year for approximately 12 places.
Each successful student will spend three weeks with WPP in July, starting on July 6, with a week in each of the three different operating companies. In each rotation they will be supervised by a current or former WPP Fellow.
In addition to their hands-on experience in an operating company, interns will be invited to a weekly workshop to learn about other aspects of the industry.
Raphael Mokades, Managing Director of Rare, had this to say:
‘I’m delighted about these internships. WPP was one of our first clients and have proved their commitment to diversity over the last three years. This takes things to a new level – by engaging with people earlier in their university careers, WPP is actively broadening the pool of people interested in the marketing communications industry. That can only be a good thing – for our candidates, for WPP, and for society.’
