Rare is thrilled to announce that two interns have joined us for the summer. Our first intern is Yewande Sokan, a LSE economist and president of her University's African-Caribbean Society. And our second intern is Mica Lloyd, a post A level student who will start her degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies at Warwick University from October

Yewande joined Rare in July for 10 weeks. Her enthusiasm and energy have already proved an asset to the team. Her tasks range from candidate acquisition, networking events and making improvements and suggestions to the Rare brand. As Rare is a small company, Yewande has realised that “with no one to hide behind” she can see the direct effects of her work. This is not only rewarding, but satisfying too. Yewande, unlike most of Rare’s economist candidates, is not interested in banking, but has opted to explore a different field. “As a candidate at Rare I became aware of all of my options. I wanted to be creative and analytical, so decided that marketing and advertising was for me”.

Mica also joined Rare in July, for a month’s placement. She too has been a valuable part of the team, helping around the office, recruiting friends, writing articles, and undertaking unexciting data entry and administrative duties. In between anxiously waiting for her A level results Mica has also lent her creative skills, giving the office a makeover. “Working for Rare has helped me learn about recruitment and has given me tolerance for laborious work! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I’ll really miss working with such great people”.

Raphael Mokades, Managing Director of Rare, is delighted with how the internships have worked out. “Having interns on board at Rare has been brilliant as it allows us to do a lot more than we normally would manage. It’s been a joy to have them around and we are hoping to have more interns next summer”.
